Sogna

Medieval Castle

The ancient « castrum » was owned by Conti Ubertini of Arezzo. In a document dating back to 1275 you can find a reference to a certain Baldo, Tebaldo of Ubertini’s son and a Lord of Sogna. A further document kept in Siena’s archiepiscopal archive tells us about a truce, made by the Ubertino Lord from Sogna, Gualtiero’s son, with the Municipality of Siena. There are still a few remains of the castle, belonging to small sections of the defensive wall circuit and to the quarterdeck.

The Virtual Museum of Valdambra is a project of the Municipality of Bucine and the Valdambra Association.
